I have uploaded all the Australian curriculum to our school’s Seesaw account as an admin. This means that I not only use Seesaw to collect assessment pieces but tag all the assessment pieces with the skills I am assessing. I have also used the four-star system on Seesaw to align with our school reporting levels: emerging, progressing, proficient, and advanced. When it comes to reports, I simply open Seesaw and all work samples have been averaged into a level based on the criteria I have linked it to. This saves time and helps to make reporting live and relevant.
Assessing students through looking at their workbooks, showed little evidence for one child. This was because he struggled to demonstrate his understanding of writing alone. Seesaw makes learning and thinking more visible. By having students record their thinking and filming their design work, I was able to present data that showed the student was at standard despite the little evidence in his writing and workbook.
