  • We use a small number of third-party service providers in order to operate and improve the Website, such as analytics providers, as described in the “Do you work with third-party analytics services?” section below.
  • We work with third-party ad networks and advertising partners to deliver advertising and personalized content on our Website and across devices. These parties may collect information directly from a browser or device when an individual visits our Website through cookies or other data collection technologies.  The information is used to provide and inform targeted advertising, as well as to provide advertising-related services such as reporting, attribution, analytics, and market research, as described in the “Do you engage in interest-based advertising?” section below.
  • We may disclose or transfer your personal information in connection with a corporate business transaction, such as the sale, merger, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or reorganization of our company.

7. Do you use cookies and other online tracking technologies?

Cookies are small text files that we transfer to your web browser that allow us to identify your web browser and store information about your account. We use cookies and other online tracking technologies to customize your Seesaw experience, understand how you use Seesaw and for advertising and promotional purposes. You can choose to remove or disable cookies via your browser settings. Please be aware that the Website may not work properly if you disable or decline all cookies.

8. Do you work with third-party analytics services?

Seesaw is constantly improving, and we use aggregate data about how Seesaw is used — for example what buttons you click on or what pages you visit — to inform those decisions.

To help us analyze this data, we use a small number of third-party services such as Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to recognize you and link the devices you use when you visit our Website on your browser or mobile device, log in to your account on our Website, or otherwise engage with us.  We share a unique identifier, like a user ID or hashed email address, with Google to facilitate the service. Google Analytics allows us to better understand how our users interact with our Website and to tailor our content to you.  For information on how Google Analytics collects and processes data, as well as how you can control information sent to Google, review Google’s website, “How Google uses data when you use our partners’ sites or apps” located at www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners/. You can learn about Google Analytics’ currently available opt-outs, including the Google Analytics Browser Add-On here: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout/.

9. Do you engage in interest-based advertising?

In connection with our Website, we participate in interest-based advertising and use third party advertising companies to serve targeted advertisements to an adult audience based on browsing history and interests. We permit third party online advertising networks, social media companies and other third-party services, to collect information about non-student users’ visits to our Website over time so that they may play or display ads  on other websites or services and on other devices.

Typically, though not always, the information used for interest-based advertising is collected through tracking technologies, such as cookies, web beacons, embedded scripts, location-identifying technologies, and similar technology, which recognize the device you are using and collect information, including click stream information, browser type, time and date you visited the Sites, AdID, precise geolocation and other information. For non-student users, we may also share a common account identifier (such as a hashed email address or user ID) with our third-party advertising partners to help identify you across devices. We and our third-party partners use this information to make the advertisements that non-student users see online more relevant to their interests, as well as to provide advertising-related services such as reporting, attribution, analytics and market research.

We may also use services provided by third parties (such as social media platforms) to serve targeted ads on such platforms. We may do this by providing a hashed version of non-student users’ email addresses or other information to the platform provider, or by utilizing pixels provide by these platforms.  For example, for non-student users, we may use cookies when we work with social media platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and LinkedIn to conduct marketing and advertising campaigns. These platforms enable us to choose which types of users to display our advertisements to on their platforms (for example, educators in specific states). We may permit these platforms to use cookies or other tracking technologies on our Website to measure how effective our advertising campaigns are at getting educators (not students) to visit our Website. In some cases, we may also ask the platforms to use this cookie or pixel data to create “lookalike audiences” for new marketing or advertising campaigns directed to educators (not students). These campaigns are governed by the privacy policies of those social media companies that provide them. You may be able to adjust your advertising preferences through your settings on those networks.

Please note that as a signatory to the Student Privacy Pledge, we are committed to not using student data for behavioral targeting of advertising to students.  Although we may permit third-party advertising partners discussed above to collect information from visitors to adult-directed pages of our Website for the purpose of displaying advertisements on other websites or online services on our behalf and/or measuring performance and attribution, we take steps to prevent these third parties from collecting information from student users for targeted advertising purposes by disabling these third-party tools once a user signs into an authenticated user account on our Seesaw Service. Additionally, we target our ads only to adult audience segments.

10. Is there a way for me to control my information?

You may be able to control your information in the following ways:

You may also be able to limit interest-based advertising through the settings menu on your mobile device by selecting “limit ad tracking” (iOS) or “opt-out of interest-based ads” (Android).  You may also be able to opt-out of some — but not all — interest-based advertising served by mobile ad networks by visiting http://youradchoices.com/appchoices and downloading the mobile AppChoices app.
